About Me
I’m a philosopher and bioethicist based in St. Louis where I’m pursuing my PhD at Saint Louis University. My work is mostly aimed at the way emerging technologies risk exacerbating disparities in patient outcomes. I’m also interested in the ways the clinic can enforce (or maybe create) social-metaphysical categories (e.g. gender and race). Philosophically, I tend to focus on theories of consent, theories of justice, applied ethics, and the ethics of care.
I received my master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Houston in 2024. Through the course of my MA, my studies were focused on ethics and applied philosophy. I double majored in philosophy and mechanical engineering at Northeastern University, receiving my bachelor’s degree in 2022.
I previously served as an adjunct instructor with Houston City College and Lone Star College where I taught courses on clinical ethics and philosophy. I also served a one year appointment as the research assistant for the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Center on Ethics and Leadership in the 2023-2024 academic year, doing research into the ethics of care and its implications for public policy. Following that, I interned with the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s department of integrated ethics through the summer of 2024. I also have industry and research experience working in medical devices, specifically imaging technologies including CT and MR imaging.
Outside of the classroom, I spend my time tending to cats, bees, a sourdough starter, and a particularly persistent pothos plant that refuses to die.
